About Me

maya

I write because I can’t not write.

If I’m not blogging I’m journaling, and if I’m journaling I’m thinking Geeeez I’d rather be blogging, because what fun is burying your thoughts in a diary that will eventually just end up in an underwear drawer?

I write when I can (which isn’t particularly often with 2 littles) and about whatever is causing me to emote at the time.

I’ll forever consider myself a Michigander but have spent over a decade living all over the western half of the US. Our little family recently just picked up and moved clear across the globe to Shanghai; I’m thinking some fun/crazy expat stories are in our future.

Welcome and make yourself at home 🙂

  1. I have enjoyed reading all the posts (I didn’t quite get through all of them though) It is nice to have a “friendly” religious discussion. I have learned a lot from others comments both Lds and non-lds. It helps me to be more aware of how I treat others. I wanted to comment about “asking others about their beliefs”. I am LDS and several years ago I had a couple of women who were Jehovah Witnesses come to my door. I invited them in and we had a pleasant conversation. They knew I was LDS but came back every month for nearly a year. I grew to love those ladies and enjoyed our visits about religion. They always left me with a brochure to read. Why did I invite them in when I had no intention of leaving my faith? I wanted to show them the same respect that I hope our missionaries get when they go door to door. One day the ladies brought me a brochure that was about Joseph Smith. It had many untrue things written in it. Instead of being offended I simply gave them a Book of Mormon and asked them to read it and pray about it. (just like they had me do with their brochures) They would not take the book and never came back. I was sad that they wouldn’t read about my beliefs like I did with theirs. I guess it goes both ways, but I will certainly try harder to be more responsive to others beliefs. I LOVE being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love it and I live it willingly. Many members of my family go to different faiths but we all still love and respect each other. Thanks again for your blog.
